The eggs have arrived!

We had 6 very special arrivals on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

We have 6 brown eggs that were given to us by Ms Walker and we are keeping them warm in our incubator for 3 weeks.  In 21 days ( May 12)  we may have baby chickens born or we may not.  We do not know if the eggs are fertilized or not, we will find out soon.  Check out our blog posts about the eggs

Mrs Soltau-Heller and class, this is a very exciting time for you all having eggs in your class. It is a great experience having chickens in your class.
What will you do to care for them when they hatch? How long will they stay in your classroom for?

    Dear JuniorG's
We have not had chicken eggs before, last year we hatched ducks, so we are not sure what to expect from these eggs. They may hatch in the middle of May. We are not sure if they are going to hatch. We will keep them in our classroom for a couple of weeks and then they will go to Mrs Williamson's house. Stay tuned to see if they hatch.

These eggs look like they are going to hatch baby chicks. I wonder where the mother is? I hope these eggs were not left in the jungle. I hope these were in a barn and the mother did let the people get the eggs to take care of them.

    Hi,
I was very interested to see your incubator and your story on hatching chicks. Our class hatched chicks this year. The school purchased a new incubator but it only has 2 small viewing areas on the top. I like yours a whole lot better. We put in 35 eggs this year and 13 hatched. We actually had a live feed linked to my blog for the 2 days they hatched. It was very exciting for our class to see so many people following the hatching.
    I really like your blog.

    Mrs Lawrence and 2L,
Thank you for the compliment on our blog. 13 eggs is a lot! What did you do with them? We borrowed the incubator from our local high school.
    Take care,

    Mrs Lawrence,
We were wondering if you would mind if we embed your video of the egg hatching on our blog?
