Smokey the Bear came to visit to talk about forest fires
Week 3!
We have had a great couple of weeks. Students are getting used to the schedule and we seem to be finding our groove. Your child should be tired when they are coming home, we are working super hard at school. We have begun our printing program, sight word reading, daily physical education and calendar. That is a lot for these guys and they are rising to the occasion.
I will be sending home a Week-At-A-Glance on Tuesday with important info/dates on it. A few things to know
Library is on Thursdays - students may keep the book for a week or they may bring it back and exchange it during the before school library time
We have Daily Physical Education as mandated by the BC government. We will have 30 minutes of activity most days at 1:00pm. No special clothing is required.
Monday, Sept 21 - Teachers only in session
Tuesday, Sept 22 - Forestry Presentations
Book Orders due
Wednesday, Sept 23 - Great Shoreline Clean-up **wear boots** parents are welcome to join us
Friday, Sept 25 - Terry Fox Run - at the school - Families are welcome to attend.
Baking
Monday, Sept 28 - Swim lessons begin. We will swim Mondays and Wednesdays form 11:15 - 11:45 **parent helpers are welcome and needed**
Monday, Oct 12 - Thanksgiving - no school
Monday, Oct 19/ Tuesday, Oct 20 - Early Dismissal (2pm)
Friday, Oct 23 - Provincial Professional Development Day - teachers only in session
Saturday, Oct 24 - Create for a Cause @ PH Civic Centre
and that is about as far as I can go.... please check back regularly as I may add or change things.....

Week 2
We are ready to start!! This week things will be starting, Grade 1's are working so hard and are so keen. It is so wonderful to see these happy little faces! We have a fantastic group of Grade 2's who I am lucky to know very well! I can't wait to see how they grow and change this year.
A newsletter came home on Friday with some important dates;
Sept 17 - Mug & a Muffin - 8am
Sept 21 - Inservice Day - Teacher's only in session
Terry Fox Run - need to check date, but will happen
Every 2nd Friday we will be cooking! Thank you to the Therrien's for volunteering to help with this!!

I am so much smarter
Hello all!
Just got back from the workshop and went to school to practice on the smartboard and I am SOOO excited. This tool will certainly help engage students with lessons in a unique and active way. I am very excited to see how long it takes the Grade 1's to be more proficient than me on it. Very exciting.

School starts soon!
Hello all!
Hope your summer went well, and now it is over!! I am getting into the swing of things and hoping that everyone is somewhat excited about coming back to school. Let's all put on a brave face and smile.
School starts on Sept 8 -- 10:30 am for students
Mr Markides and Mrs Starr will be here starting the 31st and I will be in on Sept 1st if you need to talk to anyone about anything, or if you just want to drop by and say "Hi!".
New look for the blog this year. We will see how it goes, I hope to have more pics and video uploaded.
EXCITING NEWS! New Smartboard will be here in September, can't wait to play with it!
