This is Elroy the Preying Mantis! He has arrived from Windsor, Ontario after a long trip via Canada Post.
Mrs Wideen's Class in Ontario sent him to us and we sent Hayley the Orca to Windsor.
Elroy will be coming home with different students each night. We have determined the order alphabetically. Please welcome Elroy into your home to join in all your after school plans. (Just treat Elroy like one of the family) Elroy has arrived with the following:
- An iPod to take pictures and document your time together
- Two books to read together about Prey Mantises
- A bag to keep everything together
The iPod will be used to chronicle all of Elroy’s home visits. If you have wifi at home. there is a blog set up on Kidblogs on which your child can add pictures and write about his visit. On the iPod there is a Kidblog app, you will choose, Mrs. Soltau-Heller’s Class then find Elroy's blog and your child knows the password. Your child will then choose new post and write about your adventures.
Don’t worry, your child will be able to do all of this independently because they have been logging onto their own blogs independently for months now.
If you don’t have wifi, you can still take pictures and write your text in the book sent home with Elroy using the Skitch App and we will put what your child has completed on the blog when he/she gets to school the following day.
Please be sure to keep track of all of these things and return everything to school the following day.
