We had a hunch that garbage on the playground was a problem at our school so we went out to find evidence. We discovered that it was indeed a problem! All the Grade 1 & ½ classes collected garbage from difference places on the school property. The evidence was very clear, most of the garbage was kid garbage! Now each of our classes are going to be learning about different aspects of garbage in our environment. We will be learning about the Great Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean. In two weeks we will sharing our learning with the other classes. We are hoping to come to a solution to our garbage problem at Sunset Elementary.
Our high school buddies came and helped us make more books about patterns. Thank you to Ali, Mackenzie, Molly and Chantel. As usual with technology some of the books worked and some didn’t… Here are the some of the books we completed.
What do you do when the power goes out? Well you read of course! What a wonderful class. As we waited for our families to pick us up from school on Wednesday my class quietly got our their book-bags and started reading. It was calm and lovely in our room.
Remember an easy way to stay in touch with the happenings at school is through our Remind App. Below are the instructions on how to sign up if you haven’t already. It really is a quick and easy way to stay in touch.
On Friday we talked about Terry Fox and why he is a Canadian hero. We talked about how Terry did something that was very hard and helped other people and we remember him because of what he accomplished. Because of Terry Fox we walk or run every September to raise awareness and money to help find a cure for Cancer. We will discuss other heroes during September. I encourage you to talk with your child about who are your heroes are and why.
